Members of UCU voted by 60.8% to 39.2% not to accept proposals to change the JNCHES bargaining arrangements.
The full result is as follows: Valid ballots returned: 16643 Total voting yes 6517: (39.2% of valid vote) Total voting no 10126: (60.8% of valid vote) UCU General Secretary Sally Hunt said 'it is clear that while our members remain committed to national bargaining, they have major concerns about the restrictions placed upon UCU's ability to take industrial action should it need to and also about the union's ability to lead negotiations on issues of specific interest to academic and related staff under the proposals as they stand. 'The Higher Education Committee will consider next steps tomorrow and I have no doubt will ask me to seek further safeguards for UCU members in line with members' concerns.' |
