UCU, UNISON and UNITE are working closely with USSU to publicise the risks in the current management plans. Sussex is a world-leading University with internationally renowned research in all its departments. We have one of the fastest rising ratings in the NSS Student Experience scores, and regularly are ranked top by international students as 'the place to be'. These successes are built on the dedication and loyalty of staff working at the University. Our academic staff are already facing very heavy teaching loads, and staff:student ratios are already under extreme stress.

Against this background, the University managers, all of whom are relatively recent newcomers to Sussex, are now proposing - for the first time in our history - a savage series of cuts, with the threat of compulsory redundancies. On this page we will be publishing letters and messages of support.
